Listed below are a few answers to questions that have been asked about our service in the past. If you have any questions not already listed please contact a member of our recruitment team on Tel: +44 (0) 1928 724330 or by email recruit@residententertainers.com and we will be happy to answer them for you.
What's the minimum age to apply? For UK positions you will need to be at least 17 years old, preferably 18+. For positions abroad the age is strictly 18+.
Do I need to have experience? It depends on the position. If you going for a lead vocalist, head dancer, karaoke host or management position, then YES you will need experience. But there are lots of positions available for new recruits as animators and coat style entertainers where full training will be given, and depending on your talent there are also show team positions available.
Which countries do you accept applications from? We can only accept applications from candidates from EU membership countries.
Do you have any winter work? Yes, although in the UK there are notoriously less holiday entertainment positions around in winter there are many positions available abroad in Winter Sun destinations, Winter/Ski resorts, Larger UK venues which stay open all year round, UK Pantomime positions and Christmas and New Year Events.
Is accommodation supplied with the job? Yes. Almost all the positions we recruit for will require you to relocate to the venue you'll be working. Generally the accommodation supplied is similar to that used by the venues holiday makers e.g. Cabin on a Cruise Ship, Holiday Home on a Park, room in Hotel etc. You will however need to check with the employer what facilities are included, e.g. bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen, lounge and whether it is single or shared with other team members. The least you can expect from your accommodation is that it's clean, comfortable and secure. Some employers will also include food and drink from the venues restaurant and bars as part of your package.
How much will I get paid? This varies greatly on the position and from venue to venue, but the absolute minimum you can expect as an inexperienced animator or coat style entertainer is £140 per week abroad and £150 per week in the UK + your accommodation + any benefits. Many positions though will pay between £165-250+ per week as a starting pay and £175-350+ per week for experienced entertainers. Show team performers and lead vocalists can earn more depending on their ability and the employer, with Cruises tending to pay a bit better than land based jobs. Team leaders and Assistant Managers tend to earn around the same amount or a fraction more than experienced entertainers. Managers can expect to earn between £200 - 500+ per week depending on the size of their venue(s) and entertainment team(s).
How much does your service cost? To register with us costs absolutely nothing. There are NO up front fees to pay or monthly membership charges. We simply charge one of the industry's lowest commission rates of just 10% for positions that are sourced and contracted through us.
Will I definitely get a job if I apply? No, we can't guarantee all applicants a job, but the odds are definitely in your favour! More employers and agents are recruiting from us than ever before, giving you access to lots of positions. In fact, during 2005 over 87% of all applicants that we accepted were contacted about at least one position, with many being offered 3, 4, 5 or more jobs.
How long does it take to process my application? Once submitted your online application is passed to our recruitment team for approval and is usually processed within 48-72 hours, after which point you will be notified to whether your application has been accept or not.
If I get offered a job and don't take it what happens? Nothing, your not obliged to accept any positions offered to you. It's up to you to decide which job you want to accept, we just keep promoting you until you accept one. If you have already accepted a position and then changed your mind simply let us know so we can notify the employer and find a replacement for them, and then continue finding a new position for you.
What happens if I start a job and find I don't like it? Don't worry, as long as you haven't left under bad terms (e.g. illegal activity) we will be happy to find you another position elsewhere if you want us to do so.
